Hello Artists!
Alchemy Arts Academy (A3) is thrilled to announce it will be hosting open auditions to expand its ensemble on Sunday, September 24th! A3 is an academy of acting excellence based out of Las Vegas Little Theatre. Alongside the 18 artists currently in the program, instructors Sean Critchfield, Hannah Hines, and Lep Morey have built a company that focuses on ensemble productions, theatrical education, and a culture that cares for each artist as an individual.
A3 offers two tracks: (1) Performance and Technical Theatre or (2) Technical Theatre. Spots are available in both tracks. For artists interested in the Performance and Technical Theatre track, acceptance into the ensemble would guarantee you participation in four shows per season, and your time would be split between onstage performance and backstage work. Your personal preferences and desired areas of growth will be taken into consideration as much as possible when determining how much time you spend onstage and off. For artists interested in the Technical Theatre track, acceptance into the ensemble would guarantee you participation in four shows per season on the technical crew in a wide range of positions.
Regardless of your track, all artists in the A3 ensemble will receive yearly headshots, master classes from nationwide industry professionals, college and post high school career guidance, and hands-on theatrical education. In addition, A3 promises to value you as a human being and an artist. That means that mental health days, family vacations, extracurricular activities, and school obligations will not only be honored but also encouraged.
Auditions are open to any artist who is currently in high school. The below audition details are for everyone, no matter the track you are interested in:
When: September 24th at 10:00am
Where: Las Vegas Little Theatre (3920 Schiff Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89103)
What to Bring: your most recent headshot (or a recent picture of you if you don’t have a headshot) and a copy of your theatrical resume
For those interested in the Performance and Technical Theatre track, please prepare one monologue that is between 60 and 90 seconds. If you are new to theatre and unfamiliar with the process of picking a monologue, please reach out to information@alchemyartsacademy.com for additional assistance. For those interested in the Technical Theatre track, please show up to auditions prepared to chat with our technical director, Lep Morey, and meet with the other potential artists and instructors.
Everyone should be in the theatre and ready to go at 10:00am at which point we will begin with introductions and warm up games. After that, the prospective technical artists will meet with the instructors while the prospective performance artists will prepare to perform their monologue. The technical artists will then be released, and each performance artist will be given a few minutes to perform their piece and work with the instructors. Parents and guardians, please stay nearby for artist pickup.
If you are unable to attend auditions on the 24th, please reach out to information@alchemyartsacademy.com to set up an alternate audition.
Please note, as an education based company, A3 is not seeking artists who necessarily have years and years of experience. A3 values passion and a willingness to learn. Additionally, participation in shows with other companies does not automatically disqualify you from ensemble participation. Your availability may determine the size of the role we can offer you, but we are thrilled to see artists performing and working across the valley!
A3 meets on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 6:00pm-9:00pm as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10:00am-1:00pm. During these sessions, half the time will be spent on theatrical instruction and the other half will be spent rehearsing for our upcoming shows. You are not required to come to every session, but we will ask that you be there as often as you can.
Tuition is $200 a month; however, A3 offers a sliding scale opportunity where families who can afford to pay more will be able to subsidize portions of other artists’ tuition. If tuition costs present a financial barrier for you, please still come to auditions. If you are offered a position in the ensemble, we will do everything we can to find a solution and guarantee your participation.
Alchemy Arts Academy looks forward to seeing you on September 24th! Please feel free to email information@alchemyartsacademy.com if you have any questions, and one of our instructors will get back to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Alchemy Arts Academy
